Bohman, Alice R. (Marriage - 11 Oct. 1947)
Miss Alice R. Bohman, became the bride of Brice H. Bender, during a Nuptial Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at St. Joseph’s Catholic church, Stratford. The Rev. Anthony Lechler read the service for the daughter of Joseph Bohman, Sr., Stratford, and the son of the Harry Benders, Colby, Wis.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bohman, of Stratford, brother and sister in law of the bride, served as best man and matron of honor. The wedding party also included three bridesmaids, Miss Betty Jean Bender, Oshkosh, sister of the groom, Mrs. Felix Bohman, Stratford, sister-in-law of the bride, and Mrs. Edward Kralcik, Wausau, cousin of the bride; two nieces of the bride, Phyllis Bohman, as flower girl, and Audrey Bohman, as miniature bride, both of Stratford; groomsmen, Melvin Bender, Dorchester, cousin of the groom, Felix Bohman, brother of the bride, and Edward Kralcik, ring bearer, Allen Bohman, Stratford, nephew of the bride. Two brothers of the bride, Anton and Louis Bohman, acted as ushers.
The bride wore an entrained ivory satin gown, fashioned with a nylon yoke outlined with appliquéd flowers edged in satin braid. Her full length blusher veil, edged with lace, was caught to a beaded crown head dress. She wore a rhinestone necklace, the gift of the groom.
She carried a heart shaped bouquet of flesh tinted roses and mums.
The deep shades of fall characterized the colors of the gowns of the attendants. The matron of honor’s gold colored taffeta gown was styled with a bateau neckline and a Bertha collar coming to a point in the back, and full gathered skirt with a bustle back. Matching gauntlets and picture hat competed her attire. She carried a cascade bouquet of yellow roses.
The bridesmaids were dressed similar to the matron of honor. Mrs. Bohman in dusty rose, Miss Bender in aqua colored and Mrs. Kralcik in orchid colored gowns. They carried cascade bouquets of deep pink roses. They wore necklaces of gold beads twined over a strand of pearls, given to them by the bride. The flower girl was dressed similarly in blue and carried a basket of mixed flowers. The miniature bride’s dress was identical to that worn by the bride but her blusher veil of finger tip length fell from a high crown lace head dress.
Following the ceremony about 200 persons attended the reception held at the home of the bride’s father.
The couple are now honeymooning in the Black Hills. After Oct. 22 they will be at home to friends. Mr. Bender operates his father’s farm, east of Colby, Wis.
Mr. and Mrs. George Bender, Virginia, and Melvin and Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Empey and three sons were among the guests at the wedding.
